New Years Resolutions for 2016

Hello everyone! 2016 is almost upon us, the year is almost over and what a year it has been!

When I was little I was really into the whole idea of new year's resolutions, and I mean really really, to the point where I'd write pages and pages of them. The usual spiel, about watching less TV and eating less chocolate,(which, let's be real, even I knew was never going to happen ). And, usually by the second week of January, most of them had gone out of the window, and I'm sat in front of the TV, eating all of the chocolate I can get my hands on.

I still do really like having new years resolutions though, a target I can look back at the end of 2016 to see if I've achieved it. I figured here would be a good place to share them.

So this year I'm limiting myself to only three new years resolutions so I can really focus on them, but, lets be honest, mostly so I won't forget them!

If you have any new years resolutions, why not share them in the comments, so we can see how we're getting on throughout the year, and achieve them together (that sounded so cheesy, but I'm going to go with it).

Here are my three new years resolutions:

To have more confidence.
To make 'SimplyLauren' bigger and better.
To be more organised with school work.

Christmas Pamper Evening | Day 23 | Blogmas 2015

MERRY almost CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY! Today is the last blog post of blogmas and I'm officially tired out!

For the final blogmas post I thought I would show you how I'm spending my Christmas eve, and give you a few ideas of what you can do too.

I personally love a good old pamper evening throughout the year, but as the mad rush up to Christmas is almost over and we are all officially worn out, between you and me, we all deserve it!
So here are all of the tools I plan to use this coming Christmas eve to relax after the mad rush.

Of course, the first thing to do is to run a warm bath, making sure to use your favourite Christmassy scents to get you excited for Christmas day. I personally love the scent from the 'bomb cosmetics' range called 'rockin' robin'.

When your out of the bath, wrapped in the warmest blanket you can find, switch on the good old Netflix, light some candles, whip out your favourite snacks and get ready for your well deserved pamper!
(I'm really liking the 'ripe mango' candles, from Colony, at the moment, even though they aren't particularly christmassy)
I'm choosing to use the 'Chocolate Orange Warming Masque', because these masks are really cheap, and, well, chocolate orange, I just couldn't resist!

After all that hard work, your nails deserved to be pampered too. So pick out your favourite festive colour, or all of them, and go wild! :)

So that's what I plan to do.
What will you do, and what products will you use?

I guess that's all for Blogmas 2015! Have an amazing Christmas. See you soon.

A Blogging Chat | Day 21 | Blogmas 2015

It's been awhile hasn't it? ... wow, that was real funny Lauren.
Hello You! Blogmas has been quite a rush hasn't it? And it's not even over yet! I don't feel like I've just sat down and talked to you this whole time, so I thought I would spend todays post just having a chat about what's to come. Plus the fact I didn't have anything else to post, but let's not go into that ha.

I thought I'd tell you a bit about my plans for the blog first, and about  how I think Blogmas has gone. Honestly, even though it's been a rush, I really have enjoyed participating in Blogmas.
As you can probably see so far I've only posted 16 posts in 2015, this is because I deleted my old posts, when I first created it I just felt like each post was a drag, and i wasn't inspired to write anything, so I would force myself to post until they got really strained and I stopped.
However, after relaunching it, I don't know whats changed but I get excited to post, and I think that's what blogging is all about, sharing your thoughts and feelings about a subject because you enjoy it, and enjoy doing so.
I really recommend starting a blog to anyone, about anything and everything you love, because if not for anything else, it is just really fun! And if you need any help or advice (although I'm not expert), I can try to help, and we can stumble along together!
To be honest, Blogmas was a bit of an experiment for me, to see if I could get back into blogging, and I have, but I don't think I could do it all year round, it's really tiring! That is why I'm going to be posting once a week, every week, and if I'm feeling really enthusiastic, a few more might pop up during the week for you too! :)

Okay now onto a bit more of a festive chat! I'm really excited to start posting about the new year, so expect some new years organisation, year wrap ups, and new years resolution posts to come up after blogmas. I'm thinking about pounding you with a hoard of new years posts, just as you're recovering from blogmas. Then you will truly be sick of me, ha!

I'm sorry about this unorganised post! I will see you on THE EVE OF CHRISTMAS EVE, (which is a thing), with the last post of blogmas 2015!

Christmas Movie Night | Day 19 | Blogmas 2015

Movie, Movie, Movie night!!! Such fun.
Hi! As you know, I keep banging on about how every year I spend a whole day before Christmas watching Christmas movies snuggled up on the sofa. Well, I am so busy next week, and won't have a day to spare, so I spent the whole evening watching Christmas movies. I did however spend a whole day catching up on Once Upon a Time last week, which took me over 7 HOURS, but who's counting?

I thought I'd go all tumblr on you and take lots of pictures of an amazing hot chocolate I was going to make... Yeah, no. That simply was not the case! It's like when you look at a cake recipe, and think to yourself  'Yes, I'm going to make one just like that!'... And then your end result looks nothing like the picture on the recipe, and more like something from a horror movie. Yes, well that's what happened today, so don't be offended by my horrible excuse for a hot chocolate, hah.

Me and my friend watched the movie love actually, which I'm sure you have all heard of, but we had never seen before. We spent the first thirty minutes shouting at the screen 'ooo I love that actor', 'What's the other film she's from?' and 'Snape. Oh my gosh it's Snape.', until we got to grips with the fact that, yes, there were a lot of amazing actors, and, yes, Snape had been (HP SPOILER) resurrected. It honestly has an amazing cast list though, so I really recommend it.

As I'm writing this, there are only 5 days, 2 hours, 3 minutes and 14 seconds until Christmas day! Can you tell that I'm excited?!

What Christmas movies are you planning to watching on the run up to Christmas?

See you on Monday for another festive post!

Christmas Music Playlist | Day 17 | Blogmas 2015

Hi! I can't believe it's the 17th already! It feels like only yesterday that I started Blogmas, but we've only got 3 posts left! Next week, for my last two posts I'm going to up the ante and make them really good, because school will be over and I'll have time to take some pictures for you guys. If you have any requests, make sure to comment down below!

However, today I thought I would share with you all of the music I've been listening to over the past few days (months).  Of course, they are all Christmas songs, this is Blogmas, people! All of these songs, you have probably heard a million times so far, but I thought I'd drill it in a bit more. Ha.

Whats your favourite Christmas song? I personally love all of Michael Buble's Christmas songs, but I restrained myself so this wouldn't be a playlist of just his songs!

There you have it, a playlist of Christmas songs to get you in the Christmas spirit! I hope you enjoy.

Christmas Jokes | Day 15 | Blogmas 2015

Today I thought I'd get you in the christmassy spirit, with a few christmas cracker jokes! Because who doesn't love those? Don't answer that.

I want to make you laugh, not because the jokes themselves are funny, not by any stretch of the imagination, but they are so unfunny that they make you laugh... or cry, either way, here are some christmas cracker jokes that fail so spectacularly that they almost win! You're very welcome.

What did Adam say the day before Christmas?
It's Christmas, Eve.

Mary and Joseph - now in a stable relationship.

Why does Santa have three gardens?
So he can 'ho ho ho!'

What happened to the man who stole an Advent Calendar?
He got 25 days!

I told my Grandad to go to the amazon for his Christmas shopping.
He phoned me two days later from Brazil.

What do you call a cat in the desert?
Santa Claws!

Where do snowmen go to dance?
A snow ball.

Why did they let the turkey join the band?
Because he had the drum sticks.

What kind of music do elves like best?
'Wrap' music.

How does Darth Vader like his Christmas turkey?
On the dark side.

Favourite Christmas Movies | Day 13 | Blogmas 2015

Hello everyone! It's nearing the end of the school term, and that only means one thing! Christmas movie marathon. Whoop. I mentioned this in a previous post, but when the Christmas break comes around, I spend at least one whole day hibernating in my pyjamas under a mountain of blankets, marathoning all of my favourite Christmas movies! Today I thought I would give you a list of some of my favourite Christmas movies, just 'cos.

The Grinch
I have to admit that when I was a kid this movie completely terrified me. Completely. I can vividly remember my whole family watching it, and me, being the absolute bad ass I was, walked in, saw the Grinch, and burst into tears, because I mean why wouldn't you? A guy in green makeup is completely terrifying! But I am proud to say that I have gotten over my incessant fear of the Grinch, and I will be watching it inside of my cocoon of blankets.

Elf
Oh you! Everyone knows how much I love this movie, and if you don't, you do now. I actually only watched it for the first time last year, but since then I must have watched it at least 20 times. It has a really simple plot line, but it's so funny! My best friend has never watched this, so me and my other best friend are going to force it upon her, because we can't deal with the shame!

Home Alone 1 and 2
Ah, a classic. I love these movies so much, even the trailer makes me laugh! Home alone is the one you just gotta watch every year, and I have to say Kevin is just the most bad ass kid ever! I mean, you don't see him crying over the Grinch do you? No. Just me.

The Santa Clause 3
Okay I feel really stupid right now. For the last five years, I've been under the impression that 'the Santa clause three' was the name of the movie, meaning I only thought there was one. That actually makes sense to me, because there were parts in that movie where I didn't have a clue what they were going on about, as they were referring to past movies. You know, and plus the fact its called the Santa clause three. THREE being the operative word there. Even the bloody trailer says it's the third. Oh my gosh, my whole childhood has been a lie. I am literally going to go and watch the first two right now.

And there you have it! Some of my favourite Christmas movies of all time. So whilst I'm watching The Santa clause 1 and 2, and trying to reclaim as much of my childhood as I can, why not leave a comment and tell me some of your favourite Christmas movies?

Bookish Gift Ideas | Day 11 | Blogmas 2015

It's Friday, Friday, better get down on Friday... those are the only lyrics I know, so let's move on.

As some of you may know, I love books!! This whole blog actually started out as a book blog. So today I thought I'd share with you a few bookish gifts. If you know someone who loves books, and you're stumped as to what to get them, or you just want to buy yourself a Christmas present (there's no shame, i do it too) then I've got you covered!

1. A T-shirt! There are so many T-shirts with book quotes and bookish jokes you can buy, it's like an inside joke you have with people who have also read it. And I mean, look how happy the lady is wearing the top, if that isn't a reason to buy it I don't know what is! So if you want to look as happy as her, why not pick up a shirt!

2. Mugs! Everyone needs a mug... like, literally, what else would you drink out of?
I have to say that I love this etsy store, they have so many different products with this design.

3. A laptop sleeve, this is made by the same etsy store as the mug, and the design can be made into lots of different products.

4. Books. Why not get your book loving friend a book. I mean, you can't go wrong with that. Well actually you can, but let's not go there.

5. Phone Cases. Phone cases. I have nothing to say about phone cases... this post is going down hill real fast. Feel free to leave now, I promise I won't hold it against you.

6. This necklace was in my Christmas wish list that i posted on Wednesday, but i like it so much i thought 'hey, let's just show them again!', hope you don't mind! but if you do, not much you can do about it!

7. A bag about books to carry your books, what more do you need!?

I'm so sorry you had to read this, but I mean kudos to you if you made it to this point, haha. Come back in two days if you want more awkwardness! :D

Christmas Wishlist | Day 9 | Blogmas 2015

Hi! Today I thought I'd give you a little peek into my Christmas list, for any of you nosey people out there. I'm one of you, I love to read what everyone wants. :)
This is also a hint to any of my friends reading this. I kid I kid... almost.

This particular one isn't actually available anymore, but I'd like one similar. IT'S JUST LOOKS SO FLUFFY!

2. Penguin iPhone case = £3.95
I need a phone case and this one looks so good! The amazon shop that sells these (link HERE) have a whole range of different designs, and I'm in love with them all!

This is the most christmassy Yankee candle I could find as I walked around the shop smelling every single one... yep that happened.

This is the second most christmassy candle I could find on my Yankee candle adventure... and I must say, it was quite the adventure.

5. One line a day = £9.59
I'm that person who, at the start of every year, says 'yep, today's the first day of diary writing, I'm so going to keep this up all year!' *next day* 'um... I'll just do it tomorrow'. And the diary was never seen again.
So I figured with this, writing one line a day wouldn't t be that hard.... actually :|

I need this book so badly. I'm currently re-reading the lunar chronicles so I will know whats going on in winter, and I forgot how good they all are! I read cinder in just over day... and I'm close to finishing scarlet already. Bring on winter!

7. Quote Necklace = £7.00
I'm in love with this range! They sell the same style necklace (key rings are available) with hundreds of different book quotes. I'd really link the Twilight quote, just because, you know. EDWARD.

Christmas Phone Wallpapers | Day 7 | Blogmas 2015

Wow. Its day 7 already. THERE'S ONLY 18 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS! Who's excited!? ME.
Today I was on my phone whilst trying to come up with ideas for posts, and thought, hey, lets give the people some home screen ideas, because who doesn't need those? And that my friend, is how this extremely unorganised post was born. You're very welcome! ;)

Currently my home screen is a really festive snowy picture, that is really cute... and then theres my lock screen, a picture of Edward Cullen... I know, I know. All your faces be like:

This has been extremely rambly so far, so I will just get on with it!

Clockwise from Left
1//   2//   3//   4//   5//   6//   7//   8//

If I couldn't find to the link to the creators (due to the dark depths of pintrest) I have just linked the pintrest account.
These are all Phone sized (not squares) but as you can see, much like my gingerbread decorating skills, my collaging skills are, well, non existent.

I have lots more ideas for you on my Pinterest account in my Christmas Phone Wallpapers Folder.

Thats all for today! See you on Wednesday!

Gingerbread | Day 5 | Blogmas 2015

Onnn the fifth day of christmas my true love gave to me... FIVE GINGERBREAD. Who can guess what todays post is about? Anyone? Yep, you got it.
Last week my friend and I decided that it was that time of the year again, and we had to do some christmas baking! So here's what happened!

The decorating leaves a lot to be desired, but they tasted really great! We used the Waitrose recipe, which is linked HERE. I think my favourite were the polar bears... however my first try (the one with the smiley face) still creeps me out.

I'd love to see some of your gingerbread designs, so leave a comment down below!

That's it for the fifth day of blogmas! See you on Monday!

December TBR | Day 3 | Blogmas 2015

Hello... It's me.
I think there is literally nobody on this Earth that hasn't pulled that one, am I right? No? Okay then. Moving on.

... You know it's bad when you have to look at the calendar to see what year it is.

Today I will be telling you all about the books I plan to read in December, I tried to add in some christmas books to get me in the mood, turns out I could only find two. So if you know of any good christmassy (oh no, we've come back to this again, halloweeny and christmassy are still going to be classed as words!) books, then leave a little comment down below to give me some inspiration.

Let It Snow
I bet you're singing the Frozen song aren't you? Good luck with that. :)
I've had this book on my TBR shelf for over a year, but I really wanted to read it at christmas time, so I left it until now! Or at least thats what I keep telling myself... I have a problem when it comes to buying books :|

From what I have gathered, this book is a lot of little stories by different authors that take place on the same day, and they all tie together. What I think is cool about this book (pun intended haha), is that the stories and  characters intertwine, and I believe that they all come together at the end, but I could be wrong. Goodreads

Cinder, Scarlet, Cress and Winter
really want to read these books again! I think I first read them last year, and can't  remember anything  that happens, and as I'm getting Winter for christmas, I want to try a read them all again.
Most people have read this series and say that they really like it, so if you're looking for a sci-fi/ fantasy/ fairytale book then these are the ones for you!
Cinder Goodreads
Scarlet Goodreads
Cress Goodreads
Winter Goodreads

My True Love Gave To Me
Onnn the third day of christmas my true love gave to me...
I think this book is quite similar to Let It Snow, in the respect that its different stories by different authors all wrapped up together. I don't really have a clue what it's about, so I can't really help you there, but I can tell you one thing, the cover is really cute! Which is really helpful.

So that is the end of Blogmas Day 3, I will see you on Saturday for another post!
