A Blogger Interview | Sophie Jane

Today is the start of something new. How cheesy does that sound? Just bear with me.

Hello everyone! Today is going to be the first monthly collaboration with fellow blogger, and blogging bestie of mine, Sophie Jane. Yep, you may have heard of her, I have mentioned her a few (a lot) of times, but as someone different. Sophie went as 'chattergirl', before she mixed it up and made a new blog over at Sophie Jane.
So, being my blogging bestie, and avid twitter rant buddy, we wanted to do something on our blogs together. That's why, on the last Saturday of every month, we will doing some sort of collaboration.

We wanted to start of simple, with a bit of an interview, so you can get to know her better. We came up with a few questions together, and she has answered them here on my blog.  So if you would like to see my answers (which are quite sarcastic, and a little self-centred) head over to Sophie Jane!

Well hello Simply Lauren Elizabeth reader thank you for letting me make an appearance over here -  it's Sophie and I am armed with my cup of tea, spotify playlist,Ben & Jerry's and I am ready to do this interview.

Who are you?!
I'm Sophie,I'm 14 years young and just one of your average teenage girls.I have a passion for photography and writing,I have shall I say sarcastic sense of humour and tend to ramble about the smallest of things.I am the owner of the semi-anonymous (according to Lauren that's a thing) blog named 'Sophie Jane',I hope we can all get to know each other a lot better seeing as I'm going to be around here a lot over the next few months.

Why did you start blogging? Who inspired you?
I mainly started blogging purely out of boredom, giving myself something to do to keep me occupied (and to cut down on my Netflix marathons)I also wanted a way to document my life and
keep a track of it whilst sharing my adventures with people.I was inspired to take the jump into the blogosphere by all the blogs that I read, which included the likes of I covet thee, Aspyn Ovard and Zoella.

Where do you see your blog going?
I don't have any plans for my blog in the future at the moment, but I'm hoping to still be blogging for a long time to come and just seeing where it takes me.I don't have any set goals for how many followers I want or how many offers from companies per month because blogging has never been about that for me - I do love getting so many wonderful opportunities, but it's always just been a hobby and something for me to do.

Name some of your favourite bloggers big and small!
I have soo many I don't know where to start! One of my main favourites is obviously my blogging buddy Lauren - I love her blog because her posts always make me chuckle from her amazing sense of humour and she is such a lovely friendly and support person that I can have Ben & Jerry's rants with. Some more of my favourites are Aspyn ovard - her blog is stunning, I covet
thee,Carrie Brighton, Life by Becky, 113 things to say, Hello October,Lauren from andlaurenanne , Abigail from abigailjessicax,Nicole from thrifty vintage and Zoella just to name a few.

What is your favourite thing about blogging?
There are so many things I love about blogging, but my absolute favourite has to be the support
you get from people and the amazing friends you can make. There is such an amazing supportive blogging community, as soon as you start blogging you instantly feel apart of it and people really do try their best to make as welcoming as possible. It's so lovely how much support I have
received over this past year from fellow bloggers,it makes me proud to be a part of the blogger community.

How did we meet?
Well me and Lauren had a discussion about this, she was on Twitter looking for new blogs to follow. That was when she came across me,she followed me and then forgot about it and carried on scrolling (thanks for that) but a few months later she actually had a little peek at my blog and then sent me a lovely direct message on twitter, being me I sent the most awkward one back and it's gone from there really

Describe yourself using a popular hashtag
Ok so this probably sounds so sad,but I would describe myself as #foreveralone because I am so awkward and I just sit at home with my Ben & Jerry's and netflix with my cat like literally every evening ( I promise you I do have a life though) and then I ramble to Lauren about it - yep I am living my life on the edge.

If you could trade places with someone, who would it be and why?
I don't have a specific person, but someone really close to me just to see what it's like through their eyes and I would try to make their life a lot better in whatever way I can.

What is your favourite Disney movie? And who is your favourite character?
My favourite Disney movie is the aristocats because I'm a major cat lover and the film is just so adorable. My favourite Disney character is Rapunzel from tangled because I think she is adorable and her hair is goals.

Name one thing off your bucket list
At the top of my bucket list right now is to run a marathon for charity - it's not something I have wanted to do until recently.I'm not at all sporty, but I would be willing to train for it and it's such a good cause so I would be willing to give it a go.I always feel that if I'm able to do it and it will help people then I should always give it a go,so who knows maybe soon?

One place you would like to travel.
At the moment the place I would love to go to is Santorini in Greece, mainly because I have seen a lot of my favourite youtubers and bloggers go there and it looks absolutely stunning and just so peaceful.Another place I would like to go to though is New york it's just getting over the extremely long flight.

Well, thank you for welcoming me onto your blog,I have really enjoyed and will see you soon for another collaboration!

Well, a big thank you to Sophie for answering our questions! We will see you all next time, which will be Saturday 26th March (Go write it in your diaries!), for another collaboration! Until next time,

Monthly Music Favourites | February

Hello Everyone! I'm back for another Monthly Music Favourites (February) post. Lets just take a moments silence to appreciate the alliteration in the title. You are welcome.

Another month, another musical month, wink wink, I'm on a roll with this alliteration today. This month I have discovered some new artists, and rediscovered some old ones! I promised in a previous post that I wouldn't bang on about spotify anymore, so I won't! Even though I love it and I use it every day and you should go use it too... oops.

Most of these are old songs, that I have heard before don't worry, I'm not just discovering them now, but I have been loving them this month especially!  I decided not to write any of the albums that were in my January post, but I might include a few songs on an album mentioned last month that I have just gotten into this month! Wow, that was a  mouthful, I don't know if that made any sense whatsoever, so let's just get going shall we?

Albums
Blue Neighbourhood - Troye Sivan

Songs
I Know What You Did Last Summer - Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello
Happy Little Pill - Troye Sivan
When We Were Young - Adele
Coolkids - Echosmith
Bright - Echosmith
Let It Out - Frances
Oblivion - Bastille
Pillowtalk - Zayn

Side note, Coolkids gives me so much nostalgia from last summer let me tell you! Anyone else?
Well, that's all for today. What songs give you nostalgia? What was your go to song/album this month?
Until next time,

MAC Velvet Teddy Review

Hello everyone! Today I'm doing something I've never done before - attempting to review a lipstick, wish me luck.

Yesterday I went on a little shopping splurge, and found myself in the dark depths of the MAC store. I've never bought a MAC lipstick, but after seeing it on so many of my favorite bloggers makeup tutorials and hauls,  I decided i'd have a look, and check it out. ('Check' being an absolute lie, I ran, grabbed it, paid, and then did some park our out of the door).

I think this lipstick is a popular one because who doesn't want the Kylie Jenner lip look?  With her dark nudes and all. Velvet Teddy could possibly be labelled the lipstick of the Internet, all of you bloggers and youtubers either have it, or want it! And being a blogger myself,  I just had to try it out!

Packaging
I love the MAC packaging, it's so sleek and expensive looking. And, and, you don't have to pay 5p for a bag, good stuff. You may be seeing it in a lot of blog photos, mostly to make me look cool, which I'm so not. But you don't know that.

Appearance

Velvet teddy is described as a 'deep-tone beige' on the maccosmetics website, but personally I think is  one of those lipsticks that changes depending on your skin tone. On me, it's more of a nude pink, with a hint of brown thrown in, which you can see in the colour swatch against my lips.
Texture
Like most matte lipsticks I've tried, velvet teddy is quite drying on the lips. After a while, becoming a bit, flaky. Hold your horses, don't reject it just because of this, as it may just be drying on me, because I have quite dry lips naturally. A quick tip would be to apply a little bit of lib balm, and then go over the top with Velvet Teddy.
The texture of the actual lipstick is very creamy, just slides right on... Can you tell I've never reviewed a lipstick before? Ha. It also feels really nice when applied.

Scent
Yes, yes, I know what your thinking. 'Scent?!' I just had to include it - Velvet Teddy smells amazing! I know you probably don't buy a lipstick for what it smells like, (maybe you do, I won't judge), but this bad boy smells like white chocolate, I'm not kidding.

Overall
Overall, I'm in love with this lipstick, and not just because the smell gives me a chocolate fix. The price may be a little steep for me, and it may be a little drying. But I think it looks so good on, and being a nude, this lipstick will go with any outfit, and I'm pretty sure will suit anyone!
To be honest, you could probably find a cheaper, drugstore dupe that's about the same colour - but if you didn't want the fuss of trying to find one, I would definitely go for this!

What are your favourite lipstick shades? Do you like velvet teddy as much as I do?

My Daily Skincare Routine

Ello, ello, ello... my Britishness is just seeping from my pores.

Speaking of pores, skincare! See what I did there? Well didn't that lead on nicely.

Today I thought I would share with you some of the products I use every (or most) days to get my mug looking sorta almost spot-free. I am by NO means a dermatologist, (no, really it's true, I'm not) that means I could be using all of the wrong things, and slowly destroying my face, or using all of the right things and... not slowly destroying my face. I just don't know. However, everything seems to be going fine so far, so it's all good.

Everybody's skin is unique, I have combination skin, so some of these products may work on me, but not on you. I have left links for each product in blue, so it's easier for you to find them!

Neutrogena: Visibly Clear Pink Grape Fruit Facial Wash
This is a bit of a tricky one, as I don't know if I recommend it or not. I'll start by saying that I took these pictures last month, so things have changed.
This product does exactly what is says on the tin, it did help remove and prevent spots, and it smells amazing. However, I found that, much like many other acne clearing products, it was very drying, After a few days my skin was dry and flaking, and my moisturiser wasn't doing much to help. But, it was clearing up my spots. After reading through the reviews after I purchased it (dur), many people said it was making their faces red and flaky. So in my opinion I don't recommend this, but maybe it will work out for you.

Simple: Spotless Skin Triple Action Face Wash
This product, I can definitely recommend! I only picked this up to use instead of the neutrogena wash, but I absolutely love it. In the space of two days it had already cleared up the dry skin problem I had gotten from the previous wash, and had made my skin extremely smooth. I had been noticing a few blemishes popping up in different places, and after a few days of using this, they had disappeared. This face wash would be perfect if you have sensitive skin, as there are no perfumes or unnecessary products in there that will go upsetting your skin!

Clean and Clear: Blackhead Clearing Daily Scrub
I don't use this very often , but i thought I'd include it in here anyway. If I notice a few blackheads popping up, usually around the T-zone area, I whip this baby out. It has very large granules (granules?) so it is a great exfoliator!

Simple: Kind To Eyes Revitalising Eye Roll-On
I use this most mornings if I remember, which I usually do.  I don't think it does much appearance wise, but when I'm struggling to keep my eyes open before I rush out the door, I wack this baby on, and it really does wake me up. It's really easy to use, and like a lot of simple products does not have any nasty ingredients.

Simple: Spotless Skin Rapid Action Spot Zapper.
I use this when I get the occasional big zit, and I find that it does reduce the size. When I sense a spot coming up, I apply some of this. It has the same applicator as the eye roll-on, and the packaging is very similar... I'm just waiting for the day when i apply spot zapper to my under eyes. It will happen my friends.

Simple: Kind To Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser
I love this product! It is a very, very light moisturiser, so does not affect the parts of my skin that are very oily. I only use a pea sized drop, and that's really all you need to let it do the job. This works wonders with the Simple face wash, leaving my face very soft.

Simple: Kind To Skin Pour Minimising Toner
Okay, I promise this is not sponsored by simple, I just have a LOT of simple products. Not much I can say about this. Minimises pores. Leaves your skin feeling super fresh. Perfect for sensitive skin. Jobs a good'un.

I hope you enjoyed today's post!
If you didn't notice, I added a little note on the side of the blog, yes, I will be posting every Wednesday and Saturday (hopefully). So I will see you then!

Until next time,

A Walk In The Park | Photo Diary

Hello Everyone! Today I decided to do a post that's a little different from what you usually see on here. My first ever photo diary!

This would have been up earlier, if I hadn't destroyed my laptop which housed all of these photos... oops. However, I managed to get them all off (phew), and this post was born.

I thought I'd give you a bit of background information before throwing a load of pictures at you, because nobody wants that. (I will call my friends the first letter of their names in case they don't want to be named) My best friend R went on a trip to visit some family members far far away... Which I'll say because I can't actually remember where that was, #friendshipgoals .  So my other best friend, A, and I decided to go on a little bit of an outing!

We walked into town, and then made our way to the park to get all artsy with the cameras! And I mean artsy in the loosest of terms, because we aren't professional photographers. Although, I must have said 'artsy' at least 100 times when we were there, oh gosh.

Without further ado, here are some of the pictures we both took!

Until next time,
